Transport Ministry Secretary General Dadan Kusdiana stated that traditional motorcycles still dominate the market. The subsidies are intended to narrow the price gap and make electric scooters a more feasible option for consumers. “The subsidies encompass the sale of approximately 800,000 e-bikes and the electrification of 200,000 conventional motorcycles,” Dardan recently mentioned. The government has set ambitious targets to significantly increase the adoption of electric vehicles, aiming to boost sales of electric vehicles to 2 million and electric motorcycles to 13 million by 2030.”

In addition to financial incentives, the government plans to build at least 32,000 electric vehicle charging stations across the country over the next six years. In addition, the government will also promote household power capacity upgrades to support electric vehicle charging.
These initiatives are part of the Indonesian government’s broader strategy to promote sustainable transport and reduce carbon emissions.
